Days 130 & 131: Campeche to Mérida and a Google Betrayal

It was a 2-hour ride on Thursday that got us from Campeche to Mérida. We rented a room through Airbnb for 413 pesos (~27.90 CAD) a night and stayed for three nights. After getting cleaned up, we went to a nearby mall for dinner and ended up watching a late screening of Justice League. It was one of those rare evenings that we ended up riding at 1:00 AM, but Mérida is quite safe so we returned to our room safe and sound.

The next day, we wanted to see the Laguna Rosada because the pictures we saw on Google showed a magical lagoon with rose-pink water. We did the hour-long ride to where the lagoon was supposed to be and what we saw was far from what Google showed us. The water was more muddy than pink and seemed to be surrounded by swamps. In fact, we initially thought we weren’t at the correct location so after riding around for 4 hours, we went back to Mérida and discovered that we had, in fact, been at the correct location. We didn’t take any pictures since we thought we were at the wrong place, so here’s a picture of the beach we saw on our way to Campeche instead. It’s much prettier than the Laguna Rosada anyway. Thanks, Google 😐
