Mounting my engine guard

So, after postponing the installation of the engine guard last week-end and this week, I finally took my courage this Sunday and mounted the SW-Motech skid plate (engine guard) on the bike. Truth is, I had totally forgotten about it, and only took notice of it again in the garage, yesterday after adjusting my new seat’s cover.

So, for the bike-unware, the engine guard is mostly a large piece of metal that covers the bottom part of the bike, protecting the engine and other parts against rocks. This is obviously not so useful on roads, but it is quite indispensable if one goes off-road. Here’s a picture of the skid plate and mounting bolts and screws.

So, installation was pretty straight forward, since it consisted mostly of removing the existing plastic fairing and mounting the new plate instead. Overall, it must have taken me one hour and I didn’t encounter any particular issue.

Here are a few photos of the bike with the engine guard.
