Day 13: Thursday, Nov. 3 – Old Albuquerque & Music With Friends

So, I started the day bringing the bike to R&S Honda Polaris, which seemed the dealership with the best reviews among two in Albuquerque. Martin, the service manager received me friendly and understanding the time constraint set everything for my bike to get not the basic service – which should have been done around 4000 miles (bike had 6200) – but instead he suggested the full one, a bit earlier (normally at 8000 miles) which I totally agreed with, after all the shaking the bike had endured in Monument Valley. Bike would be ready around 2pm, so I had my friend Mike pick me up and we headed for a coffee at a Starbucks not far and caught up with our respective stories. We then went to a photography store where the owner, whose expertise Mike recommended to me, sold me 2 UV filters for my lenses and a polarizing one to get the effects I wanted. The UV filters mostly prevent scratches on the lenses.

After that we went to a Polish sandwich place where Mike recommended me the Deluxe one, which ended far more than I could even eat 🙂 Then time was up for me to go pick up my bike, not before Mike invited me to a jam session at Jeff’s, one of his friends, starting around 6pm.

In the meantime, I went to the old part of Albuquerque and took several shots of the typical hispanic style.

img_4193 A bit late, after jumping to a liquor store to bring in some beer for the night, I finally reached Mike’s friend’s home where they had already started playing great tunes. Night was epic, loved it to feel like I was the only spectator of a greta rock concert 🙂 And I ended trying to contribute a bit both at the keyboard and the drums. Lovely night, great people! Jeff, the host, showed me his 1999 Harley Davidson, and mentioned he’d love to ride along some day on another epic trip. Well noted, Jeff! 😉
