Day 29: Saturday, Nov. 19 – New Orleans

My Saturday in New Orleans started with parking at the same parking as the day before, however this time I opted for 24 hours parking (52 bucks) rather than paying several times smaller amounts in various parking that would have totalized more than this. I still find it pretty crazy to pay more for parking than for my motel (usually in the 40-45 range) but it didn’t look like I had much of a choice… I could still come back in the morning the following day before leaving New Orleans since for the price I could leave and come back.

I then wandered through the streets and took several shots of a more modern side of the city.

After a few hours walking I stopped at a local Starbucks (again?! Someone is addicted…) for a sandwich (cheaper than a meal at a local restaurant) and the usual latte and tried to write a couple posts to try and catch-up a bit with my blogging.

After walking a bit more through the main streets, I finally went back to Bourbon Street before sunset and appreciated a cold beer listening to some bands for a while.

I also asked a couple of bikers nearby a shiny Harley Davidson, how they dealt with parking in the city, and the guy pointed at the little cloth over his license plate: the police can’t fine me, they don’t know my plate and they can’t touch my bike… Interesting! After leaving them I wondered if not knowing the plate would prevent the police from towing the bike… As I had already wasted USD52 on parking, it wasn’t making a difference for me anymore…

A bit tired and a bit low-spirited from having nobody to share the whole experience with, I decided to end the day earlier than the previous day and took the direction of the motel. I also would leave the town directly in the morning. Did I miss anything?
