Days 276 – 286: Dodging rain and doing stuff

For the next two weeks, we did what we do best and occupied ourselves in productive ways while waiting for another dry day in Panama City so we could go out an do some more sight-seeing. We clocked in quite a bit of work hours, ran some bike-related errands, and had an array of home-cooked food with whatever ingredients we could get our hands on while waiting for the weather to take a break.

Salmon, pesto spaghetti, and asparagus

Chicken and sausage with couscous and vegetables

On Tuesday, May 1, we finally got a monsoon-free day and took full advantage. Unfortunately, it was the Labour Day holiday in Panama and, as a result, most of the attractions such as Panama Viejo were closed. However, we took advantage of the traffic-free roads and rode around the city, filming everything on our GoPro so, keep an eye on our YouTube channel for footage of that.

Rain-free day!

Pretty sunsets when it’s not raining

We took the bike in for servicing at the Honda in Panama City and received rather disappointing service. After having the bike serviced at various Honda dealer in Canada, USA, and Mexico, we had come to expect a certain level of quality that the Panama City one fell short of. Not only did they neglect to look at things that they were specifically requested to look at, they did not return the biker cleaner than we had given it (something that all dealers in the aforementioned countries have done). The silver lining is that the employees were friendly (an exception in Panama rather than the norm).

On Saturday of the same week, we met up with Jyl and Chris, a fun Harley-riding couple from the UK, for coffee at Phil’s favourite spot 🙂
