Days 234 & 235: Ometepe to San Juan del Sur

Wednesday morning, we took the ferry from Ometepe back and rode the rest of the way to San Juan del Sur where we were stopping for the next two nights. It is a coastal town on the Pacific side of Nicaragua that is very popular with surfers and tourists. Unsurprisingly, price tags were higher than the other parts of the country we had visited.

Ensuring the bike is properly secured on the return ferry

After checking in at our hotel, unloading the bike, and getting cleaned up, we went out for lunch and a walk along the beach. I know, cliché date. We stopped for ice cream in the afternoon before returning to our room to cool down and get some work done.

The beach of San Juan del Sur

We had planned to go to the beach with our bathing suits on the following day, but decided to stay out of the heat and do some more work. Hot weather is evil and while the beach was nice, it didn’t tickle our fancy so much. I know it is unfair, but we now unwittingly compare every beach to Playa Delfines in Cancún and none have really measured up. Besides, the crowd in San Juan del Sur appeared to be in their 20s and early 30s who were there to party. We’re too old wise for that type of stuff.
